We are both licensed amateur radio operators, and have been into the scanning hobby for a little over 15 years now. Len has been a licensed amateur radio operator for 5 years with a Technician Class license. Jayson has also been a licensed amateur radio operator for going on 5 years now, and also under a Technician Class license. Why are we charging a fee? We are not happy about having to charge a fee for the website. There are several factors that lead to the decision to charge a small free. First, it cost money each month to maintain and operate this website. If you notice, there are no 'ad banners' or advertisements on our site. Our goal in the future is to offer advertising to some of our local two-way radio companies. This will allow us to make up for some of the money it cost to run this site. This site goes above and beyond to 'find' frequencies that are not listed in the FCC database; discover what users are using frequenices supplied by 'profit' radio suppliers; and displaying PL and DPL tones for scanners that have the CTCSS option. We have even traveled places just to search for unlisted frequencies and to capture DPL/PL tones. The money, and especially the time spent researching and creating this website all adds up! Some scanner sites out there are 'free', but some of those sites often are not up-to-date. ScanningCNY.com is up-to-date all the time.
